iPad Wi-Fi connection extremely slow

I have a new iPad Pro 2022 version. Everything works great except the Wi-Fi. I am getting a very slow connection that also drops constantly. It is at 5mbps upload, and all of my other devices are at 100+mbps speeds.

I have tried connecting it to both of my century link Wi-Fis and also my xfinity Wi-Fi. It continually drops and does not connect on the century link and is extremely slow on the xfinity. I have tried using it right next to the router and also restarting both devices.

I even bought a usbc ethernet adapter which does not work at all on the iPad, but it works on my MacBook perfectly fine. I don’t know what else to try please help.

Hello wetgoat,

Thank you for posting to the Apple Support Communities. The following troubleshooting steps can help you get the best connection with your iPad.

  1. Update your iPad
  2. Open Settings > Wi-Fi on your iPad. Tap the More Info icon next to your preferred networks and be sure that Auto-Join is enabled.
  3. Open Settings > General > Transfer or Reset [Device] > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This will reset your saved Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings.
  4. For the networks that you can manage, please be sure to have the recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points enabled.
  5. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to update your Wi-Fi hardware with the latest firmware.

You can also contact Apple Support for more help.
