My iPhone won’t turn on properly

My iPhone 8 Plus came up with a random request to connect to iTunes and is now flashing with the turning on Apple logo and blank screen. I have tried the up button, down button and power button trick that didn’t work. Does any one know how to fix this?

Hello Reecefergyy,

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities.

This sounds like your iPhone turns on, but gets stuck during the start up process, right?

If we have that correct, you may need to use a computer to restore your iPhone. This allows for a fresh installation of iOS on your iPhone; however, you would need to restore information from a previous backup. Any information at this point would need to be deleted since your iPhone won't start up all the way.

If your iPhone turns on but gets stuck during start up

If you see the Apple logo or a red or blue screen during startup, try these steps:

1. Connect your iPhone to a computer. On a Mac with macOS Catalina, open the Finder. On a Mac with macOS Mojave or earlier, or on a PC, open iTunes. Find out which macOS your Mac is using.

2. Select your iPhone on your computer.

3. While your iPhone is connected, follow these steps:

• On your iPhone 8 or later, including iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation): Press and quickly release the volume up button. Press and quickly release the volume down button. Then press and hold the side button.

4. Keep holding the buttons until you see the recovery mode screen.

5. When you get the option to restore or update, choose Update.

A Finder window showing a prompt with the choice to update or restore your iPhone. Update is selected.

6. Your computer will download the software for your device. If it takes more than 15 minutes, your device will exit recovery mode. Repeat steps 2-4.

We hope that's able to help. If not, provide more details on which steps you've tried with the results. If you're getting an error message, confirm that for us. We'll use this information to gain a better understanding of what's occurring.

Have a great day!
