Need to change my SIM card but don’t have the tool it came with. Can I use a pin or needle to open the tiny door?

A paperclip is the traditional tool to remove the SIM.

Yes use it but be gently.

You need to get the tool centered and push in, and if you get it right the SIM tray will pop out easily.
