opening png files

After running CleanMyMac, I now can't seem to open png files from my desk top. I have screen shots in png and when I click on them nothing happens. What do I do to be able to do this? I also can't open Preview.

Hi, mouchelechat, or Bonjour....

Firstly, CleanMyMac is a bad thing....do not install or run it or anything that claims to "clean your Mac from junk" or "fix your Mac" ..... you should get a copy of MalwareBytes and run that, or google "how to remove CleanMyMac"...

that being said, if you click on one of the .png files, so that it's highlighted, then press Apple (command)+I on your keyboard, you should get a long window...in there, you should see "Open With" .... and you can't open Preview.....hmmmm...... you can't just replace Preview alone, then drop in a fresh copy as it's part of the MacOS. Do you have an Intel Mac or an M1 Mac ? you can find that info by going to the large Apple icon at the top left of your screen, then going to "About this Mac".....you might need to re-install the OS ?? .....so, if you can, reply to this post telling us which kind of Mac you have and we may be able to help you more
