Is there a SCSI (or SCSI 2.0) card that will work in a mac pro 2006-2009?

I have a scanner, and I'd really like to use it with my mac pro rather than with the g3 it came with.

I have all three Mac Pro versions (aside form the 4,1) but I'd prefer to have it working on the 5,1.

I saw in an earlier thread that someone may have gotten one working, but I'm not sure if it's an Atto PCI or atto PCI-E card.

Any help would be greatly apprecaited!!

thanks

The ATTO cards listed in that other article are PCI slot cards.

The Mac Pro you listed has PCIe slots, and the transition Macs that had PCI-x slots (which could accept PCI cards backward compatible) is long gone. That was the PowerMac G5 1.8 and certain PowerMac G5 dual processor models.

The far bigger problem is that there are no drivers for SCSI scanners.

It's time to look at buying a new scanner.

Oops sorry I just saw this.

I have a power mac g5 as well. Just got a gpu for it. It's dual processor version I believe it's 2.0 version. How can I check if it's backward compatible?

Also the scanner is an imacon 848 which has fire wire and scsi. The firewire ports are broken but I do believe these machines have drivers for mac OS. Idk whcih ones but I've seen them being used in contemporary environments.

Is there a way for me to check?

How can I install Tiger on my G5? Can I use USB? If I have to burn a disk which version should I burn?

Any version of MacOS that precedes 10.7, the first version available for download, is installed off the release DVD.

Also, that DVD must be either be a "Full retail" DVD or a DVD for that specific model Mac. Solid colored discs for different models do not contain "drivers for every appropriate model Mac" and will not work.

in the US, you troll eBay looking for someone to sell an installer DVD -- and NEVER believe its a full retail DVD unless they picture the face of the Discs and it says so.
