Hi mcdelwiche,

If you haven't done so yet, restart your iPad. Although simple, this step can help correct some unexpected issues. It's also a good idea to make sure your iPad is running the latest iPadOS version, since this can help with overall performance: Apple security updates. If an update is available, be sure to create a backup before installing it.

If those steps aren't helpful, check for and uninstall any configuration profiles. The guidance in this resource will help with that: Install or remove configuration profiles on iPad.

Configuration profiles define settings for using iPad with corporate or school networks or accounts. You might be asked to install a configuration profile that was sent to you in an email, or one that’s downloaded from a webpage. You’re asked for permission to install the profile and, when you open the file, information about what it contains is displayed. You can see the profiles you have installed in Settings  > General > VPN & Device Management. If you delete a profile, all of the settings, apps, and data associated with the profile are also deleted.

If the issue persists, reply with the answers to these questions:

  • Are you able to access the apps with the duplicate icons? If not, what happens when you tap them?
  • Did anything significant happen before you noticed the extra icons? For example, was a new app installed, was your iPad recently updated, or something else?

Cheers.
