Screen has no images.

My wife’s 10.2” iPad went dark last night. She put it on the charger thinking that the battery was dead. This morning it was still dark. I plugged in the charger and heard the ding of the connection being made. However still has a dark screen. I tried rebooting the he tablet, but nothing happened. It seems like I’m going to have to take it in for service. She’s had this tablet for several years and her memory usage is up close to the 32 megs that it came with. The device listing below does not include the 7th or 8th generation iPad.

I found a fix for this issue. I simultaneously pressed and held the home and power buttons until a white screen with the apple logo appeared then released the buttons. A short time later the number keypad appeared to enter the entry code. I did that and up came the Home Screen. All is well with the world again.
