How to copy GPS Timestamp from Video to it's Creation Date

Hi, I have a dilemma where my video files show Time correctly when inside Apple Photos, however on the actual file the times are incorrect.

Usually Im able to resolve Timestamp issues within A Better Finder Attribute but When looking inside ABFA all of the dates are incorrect – created, and any of the exif timestamps as well, however it seems that apple photos is using GPS to somehow preserve the correct timestamp of capture.

How do I copy that GPS timestamp to the files Creation Date? I have a few hundred I need to fix.

Thank you!

I do not usually pay attention to the GPS Timestamp although sometimes it, GPS location or timezone have produced sorting problems in Photos.app.

I use exiftool to troubleshoot and fix those kind of problems. Notice that movie metadata is still a mess and a moving target...

Some useful exiftool commands for troubleshooting:

Check almost all tags:

exiftool -a -G1 -s .

Check time-related tags with (UTC for movies):

exiftool -a -G1 -s -api QuickTimeUTC=1 -Time:All .

exiftool -a -G1 -s -api QuickTimeUTC=1 -Time:All -api RequestAll=2 .

Check location-related tags:

exiftool -a -G1 -s -n -ee -Location:All .
