How to open pacode for new iphone 14 plus
iPhone 14 Plus
You should ask your friend where it was purchased.. an iPhone that is new will come with a 'seal' on both ends with an arrow in a green circle that you have to tear in order to open the box.
My guess is that your friend did NOT send you a new phone.
It must have been purchased used (and not correctly reset).. or your friend turned it on and set up a passcode before sending to you.. or it's a stolen device?

My friend purchased from USA
you pulled it out of the box and it asks you for a passcode? or you restored/transferred from your previous phone?
if it came out of the box asking for a passcode, return it.. if you purchased direct from Apple, likely need to contact Apple Support
Your "friend" purchased a used phone, and if it's asking for a password, he most likely purchased a stolen phone.
Send it back to your friend and see if he can get he money back. You are never going to get this phone to work.
I’m the friend. I bought it from Apple directly. I did take it out of its brand new box and went through the steps without “doing” any of them. I choose a lot of “skip this step” type of things. I don’t recall it asking me to set a passcode in the process.
I thought he’d be able to reset to factory settings and go through the steps properly.
I’ve given him what I think of use as a passcode if I did set one, but if I can’t remember the password, or never set one but somehow there is one, now what.
The he is a she and I bought it from Apple on my Apple Store account. I doubt they’d send me a stolen phone. See my post above, there must be a way to get around a forgotten password, if that’s indeed what it is.
A new phone would not ask for a passcode, it should open up to the Hello screen. Where did you get his phone?
