deleting files from a Toshiba external drive connected to my iMac

I put files from my Toshiba external drive to the bin on my iMac (Apple M1, Ventura 13.0.1). When I try to empty bin I get a message saying the file can't be deleted because it is in use.

In "Sharing and Permissions" for the drive I have "Custom Access".

How can I delete these files?

iMac 24″, macOS 13.0

Try holding the Command and Click the Trash icon >> Delete.

Still not emptying the Trash

1 - Restart in Safe Mode. This will perform a Disk Repair, clear cache files and only load Apple Software, extensions and fonts. The boot up will be slow and can take some time - Normal.

2 - Safe Mode will also eliminate Third Party Software, extensions and drivers from loading

3 - Does the issue present in this mode ?

Still not work >>
