Many thanks for responding, below is responding to you questions... in bold
What happens specifically when you attempt to connect? Do you see an alert? If so, what message do you see? No alerts and no fan icon. However, in Settings: WiFi - my home wifi has a green tick for connected. Plus I sending this response from my home wifi with MacBook air
Does this happen with all Wi-Fi networks or one specific network? This is happening in other wifi networks
Do you have any VPN or security software installed on your iPhone? This can also impact your Wi-Fi connection: Check VPN (Virtual Private Network) and third-party software to help resolve network connectivity issues I had a VPN app on the phone, but this is not running, as awaiting WiFi connecting to re-download after forced restore after initial OS 16.2 update fail.
"Check basic settings on your device
Start by checking some basic settings:
- Make sure the date, time, and time zone are set accurately on your device. Learn how to set the date and time on your Mac, iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. - All ok
- Make sure your device's software is up to date. Install any available software updates and then restart your device. OS16.2 installed and have restarted a number of times inc letting battery run flat and restarting after plugging in - no change in WiFi status
- Restart your modem and router. Tried this twice
- Try switching to another network. If your connectivity issue is resolved by joining a different network, check with your Internet Service Provider (ISP) or network administrator to make sure your network is working properly for the features and apps you want to use. WiFI working for all other connected devices in the house, also for visitors. But phone not connecting to other wifi networks tied three so far.
Check for VPN connections and third-party firewall or security software. please see VPN comment above, plus installed my VPN software is also the virus protect software
Some types of software, including VPN apps or configuration profiles, may have settings or restrictions that can cause connectivity issues. Types of software that could affect connectivity include:
- VPN (Virtual Private Network) apps
- Managed configuration profiles
- Firewall apps
- Anti-virus apps
- Parental control apps
- Content blockers
Review the apps on your device to see if these types of apps or configuration profiles are installed.
On iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, scroll through your installed apps and check for VPN software or configuration profiles in Settings.
- Settings > General > VPN (even if it says Not Connected) - This is unable to connect due to no WiFI connection
- Settings > General > Profile (if this option doesn't exist, profiles are not installed) - Non installed
On Mac, check your Applications folder in the Finder and check for configuration profiles in System Preferences > Profiles.
If any of these types of apps are installed on your device, you may need to delete them to resolve the connectivity issue. Use caution if you choose to do this, since deleting an app or changing a configuration profile could affect how you use your device. For example, if you delete a configuration profile installed by your organization or school, your device may not work with that network."
If it's only happening on one Wi-Fi network, you may consider verifying the Wi-Fi router or access point is set up properly to work with your iPhone: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points - no wifi connectivity on any networks, even though in Settings: WiFi - my home wifi has a green tick for connected. Plus all other devices working fine for us and visitors
This seems routed in the OS16.2 update
In addition apps such as Ordnance Survey Maps, give messages such as can't complete function as no connected to wifi
Rgds
