Would like to know if this is a safe app to download for my scanner using Ventura and do not see it in my apple store? For my new iMac? I heard it on here on the radio last night

I purchased VueScan Professional in 2010 and it works just fine on Ventura 13.1 because the vendor keeps it current. I have never paid for a VueScan update/upgrade in those twelve interim years, and it still drives a Canon scanner that Canon orphaned prior to my VueScan purchase.
As VueScan supports nearly 7000 different scanners their site has list of supported devices. VueScan support for some scanners may depend on working scanner vendor drivers, or it may not. Find your scanner model, and click that link, then scroll to the bottom of that detail and see if they say that you can use it on macOS without any vendor software.
