Iphone Significant locations - simply cannot get it going - help - going mad

I have an iphone 12, running IOS 16.2

Significant location did work on all my previous iphone

versions - no problem. My last iphone was an iphone 10

Something is very wrong now. It does not update, it does not

give details of previous places I have visited.

I have tried all the usual fixes:-

Turn significant locations On and Off
Clear History
Hard Reboot
Turn significant locations On and Off on System Services page
Reset Network Settings
Reset Location and Privacy

I have tried all the above stages at various times.

Bluetooth is On (and it is connected to my car)

I have tried 4G and 5G

It was working from time to time until fairly recently, that

is recent trips, but no detail on history.

Thanks for asking about locations on your iPhone.

If you use third-party security or VPN apps, turn them off and restart your device. If you ever used them and turned them off, then just try a restart.

Restart your iPhone

If you have turned them all off and restarted and still have issues, or do not use any third-party security on your iPhone, then please contact Apple Support.

Greetings kingsmiller,

Thank you for checking those settings for us. That's a great question! Significant Locations is specific to the device not whether or not you're connecting to a vehicles infotainment system via Bluetooth. To clarification, are you not seeing the specific Significant Locations in Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > System Services > Significant Locations? If so, but you see that there are X amount of locations, that is working as expected. You won't see the specific locations but you will see that there area quantity of significant locations when that feature is enabled.

Thank you Todd for your kind reply.

Yes this “feature” has been very frustrating to say the least.

Today it’s jumped back into life, well partly.

It’s now showing where I was yesterday (but not today). Also from nowhere it’s showing 7 previous locations, but it won’t allow me to view them.

This feature does nothing in my eyes. Would you know how to get it working. I want to see the 7 places I have been, and why doesn’t it mention todays and why yesterday nothing was showing, as you can see in the first photo.

it’s a challenge this feature - lol
