iTunes not playing any movies, purchased or rent

I can no longer play the movies in my library, purchased or rent. when I tried to play the movie, it just shows black screen, no audio, no visual. even my older purchased movie that I used to watch now only shows black screen

I've tried:

  • logout my apple ID, restart the pc and re-login
  • deauthorized pc, restart, re-authorized
  • use the "show mini player" like suggested by one community member
  • delete the movie from library and re-downloaded it

and none of them worked.

and even though the screen is blank and no sound, the display time kept running like normal, and my 48 hours rent limit is decreasing.

the "working solution" so far (if you can call that a solution) is when I removed the download, and without re-downloading, I just straight up play the movie (streaming).

Hi uki_w,

Thanks for contacting Apple Support Communities!

We understand that you're unable to play downloaded content via iTunes as it only displays a blank screen, correct?

You may consider checking your security software to ensure it's not conflicting as outlined here: Resolve issues between iCloud for Windows or iTunes and third-party security software

If you create a new user account, install iTunes and sign into iTunes with your Apple ID, are you able to play content in iTunes?

We look forward to your reply.

Cheers!

Hi,

thank you for the reply

here's what happened when I followed the link:

  • on the "If your security software is causing an issue with iCloud for Windows" section, none of them happened to me
  • on the "If your security software is causing an issue with iTunes" section, also none happened to me
  • on the "Things to check first" section, I checked each one and nothing seems to be abnormal, except for the Windows Hello, never had that turned on and never had any problems with iTunes without it turned on previously. Also, I only use Windows built in security software, no third parties.
  • on the "Test your connectivity" section, everything's fine

the only section that I haven't tested is the last section, "Test your security software" where I need to remove/uninstall the security software. As I mentioned before, I only used Windows built in software.

Yesterday I tried to rent another movie, and the same thing happened again. The only way for me to watch it is by NOT downloading the movie, and just click play.

I still can't play the movies I bought in my downloaded library though and I'd really hate to delete my downloaded movies in the library just so I can watch them.
