The status of an Internet Account remains "Checking".

I'm trying to enter an Internet Account in the Mail app. At the beginning everything is ok, but when I finish I noticed that the account is no added and the status is still "Checking" and it has remained like that for more than two days.

Hello andrés296,

If the account is not be added, the status shows "Checking", and you're unable to send or receive email from the account, this may be due to the settings used to set the account up. You may be able to confirm the appropriate settings for the account by entering your email address in the "Mail Settings Lookup" field here: Mail - Official Apple Support

If the settings for your account aren't available there, you'll want to contact your email service provider to confirm those settings.

If your settings need to be changed, you can edit them by following the steps in Change Server Settings in Mail on Mac.

"To change these settings in the Mail app  on your Mac, choose Mail > Settings, then click Accounts. Select an account on the left, then click Server Settings on the right.

Note: The settings shown vary depending on your account type and whether the account is enabled."

Regards.

Hello andrés296,

We'd recommend isolating this behavior further by testing this in another user on the Mac. You can do this by creating a user account, logging in to that user account and set up the mail account there to test.

  1. Set up an Administrator user: Add a user or group on Mac
  2. Log in to the new Administrator user account.
  3. Set up the email in the Mail app: Add email accounts in Mail on Mac
  4. Then test the issue.

If the issue doesn't occur for the new user account, then it would be best to contact Apple directly: Official - Apple Support They'll need to take it from here.

In case the issue does occur in the other user, have you tried testing things out in safe mode yet? This helps to rule out a number of possible software causes, and you'll find the steps in this link. After you test in safe mode, click Apple menu () > Restart to get back to normal: How to use safe mode on your Mac

Hoping this helps out, take care.

Hi racheals14,

Thank you very much for your reply.

I already checked for the settings to set the account up. The thing is that I follow the Change Server Settings in Mail on Mac, but the Incoming mail server settings (User name, Advanced IMAP or Exchange Settings, etc.) are not shown in my Server settings.

It looks like this:

And the other account "Correo personal" looks the same, but Correo personal is working fine.
