Older emails missing from Inbox on iPhone 12

Hi Everyone - I've been searching, but I've not yet found an answer. I "lost" all older email from my Inbox for my iCloud email account recently. I've seen all of the fixes for non-iCloud accounts, but those work fine for me. My Sent folder does have older email, so the issue is only with my Inbox. I have a second phone (for a different country), and turned it on this morning. The missing emails were there for about 20 seconds, and they all disappeared as well. I've checked Trash and they are not there. There is no setting for the iCloud account (unlike my other email accounts) to change the "mail days to sync". I have tried restarting the phone, turning off iCloud email, etc. I have iOS 16.1.2 on this iPhone. Any ideas? Thanks!!
