The second generation iPad Air has no support Apple Pencil. The iPad Air2 lacks the specific screen hardware with which the Pencil interacts with the iPad screen.
Basic Capacitive stylii, while perhaps offering slightly greater precision, offer no more functional capability that a fingertip.
I personally used the Pogo Sketch from TenOneDesign when I had an iPad Air 2. I'm not sure if the device (or even company) are still around...
