iOS 16.2 Message Failed to Send

Ever since I updated my iPhone12 to iOS 16.2 Im getting "Message Failed to Send" error. This is not a case for every sent message, but it keeps me showing this error on certain numbers. Even after I press retry, error returns.

Internet is full of information, but none has worked for me. Did anyone else found this and maybe a fix for it too? I don't want to make hard reset on phone since I have many important (bank, etc) on it and will have to wait for days until I get new activation codes.

Hi Jack,

Thanks for reply. This only happens on certain numbers (two by now) and both are android phones. I can normally send sms to other numbers. I already checked before what you posted, but everything seems ok.

Same thing happens to me when I try to send a group text that includes people who do not have an iPhone. I can send them texts individually, but if I try to send the person an image with a text, it will fail to send. I can receive group texts that have non-iPhone contacts, but I cannot reply. Super frustrating and only started after I updated to iOS 16.2!

Today I tried with full OS reset, problem remains. I was in contact with my provider and they told me to do everything what I already tried.. I hope there will be fix for that, as I’ve noticed more and more people I can’t send sms..

Hey everyone, me again.

Today I have done hard reset (erase) without icloud restore and everything worked fine. I then took pictures of Messages settings to make sure all settings are same when I restore from iCloud again. And I did it, I reseted again, restored from iCloud, checked that messages settings are exactly same as before restore and they were. But guess what, on those same numbers again I can not send sms. Any expert knows what else should I look for? Or I should simply forget about messages and do a backup without them and then restore + hope that messages will work later?
