I just bought a new phone from the pawn shop and it has activation lock and I was trying to get it off?

Hey so I bought a phone from a friend of a friend and they had sold me an iphone but it still has the activation lock we cannot contact them how do i removed it or what are possible ways to take it off so I bought i phone and I don't know where they got it from but long story short I can't contact the owner of the iPhone because I don't know them. Is there anything I can do to take off the activation lock or something?

Activation lock on second hand iPhone purchase. What now? I purchased an iPhone 11 Pro from OfferUp and when I went to pick it up everything was fine. Return it for a refund. This phone is useless to anyone except the owner.
