Getting loud calendar alerts on Apple Watch

Can I get my Apple Watch (it's an old watch on operating system 4.3.2) to make a sound (in addition to a haptic) for calendar alerts? I have my watch sound settings on "mirror my iphone. I have my Iphone12 on a loud alert ("Constellation"), which works when the Iphone is awake. But when the Iphone is asleep, I get only a so-called "prominent haptic" (which is a faint tap that I barely notice) through the watch and the Iphone remains silent. As a result, I have missed a LOT of appointments! I need a solution that does one of two things: (1) allows my watch to make some kind of long/loud sound on the watch when the Iphone is asleep; or (2) has the Iphone playing "Constellation" even when it is asleep and I am wearing my watch. Possible?

Apple Watch, watchOS 4

It sounds as if you may have your watch set to silent. Swipe up to access Control Center and check the bell icon. If it's red, you have the watch on mute and will only get the haptic alert. Tap it to unmute the watch and you'll get an audible alert. However, you don't have a lot of control over the type of sound.

If you're not feeling the haptic alert, consider that your watch band may be a bit loose. I use my Watch as my alarm and the haptic wakes me up every day.

The only way you can get the iPhone to sound notifications when it's locked and you're wearing the watch is if the watch is also locked. You can turn off Wrist detection and the watch will lock. You'll need to enter the lock code to do much more than see the watch face.
