Apple care

I have I-phone 14 pro coming in mail I wanted to Apple care on it. I tried to get it the purchase did not go through do I need until the phone arrives ?

If you did not purchase AppleCare at the time you purchased the iPhone, then yes, the iPhone must be in your possession to purchase it.
