Cannot add (name). You can only add contacts who are using iMessage.

Trying to add myself as a recovery contact on my father new iphone13. Since we are part of family shat, it says it should add me automatically, but it didn’t. My name comes up, but when I check it and try to continue, I get the error message “cannot add (name ). You can only add contacts who are using a message”.

Still without work.
