Why won’t txt message sound notification stop when I open msg to read? Same question from another user never got a reply that worked & thread was closed. I have the issue on my iPhone 13 (didn’t have this issue on iPhone 11). Very annoying since I either have to turn off sound or wait several seconds for it to stop chiming.

We'd recommend testing with another tone for the notification sound to see if the same issue occurs. You can find the steps to do that here: Change message notifications on iPhone
"Set the alert sound for messages
> Sounds & Haptics (on supported models) or Sounds (other models).See Change iPhone sounds and vibrations."
You may also want to check to see if the alert is set to repeat. You can check that in Settings > Messages > Notifications > Customize Notifications > Repeat Alerts .

Text sound KEEPS playing AFTER I read message
