Is there a way to make iOS use LTE instead of auto switching to 3G? It is absolutely annoying that iOS does this. I’m posting this question using LTE after a few times having to had switch back from iOS auto changing it to 3G.
No. The reason it’s switching is because the LTE signal is so weak as to be unusable or not present at all.
Depending on where you are in the world, it won’t matter soon anyway. The 3G networks are being shut down entirely by the carriers. The last CDMA network in the US will shut down in 9 days.
I get why it auto switches but lte still works well even with 1 bar. Once it switches to 3G data response and load times are totally unusable. There is no reason a lock feature shouldn’t be available. Sadly another strike to IOS.
There won't be any 3G networks left within the next month or two, so this issue just might solve itself. But, if your LTE signal is weak now, it will still be weak when you don't have to worry about 3G.....unless your carrier improves things.
