I want to select and cut parts of a picture, and paste it either on a different spot on that picture, or on a different picture. I am able to capture the object and drag it to the new photo but when I try to paste it by dropping it, it disappears. Any advice?

Doesn't offer pasting it into another picture.

Can copy images to the clipboard, so they can be pasted elsewhere.
Editing has possibilities, but doesn't seem to do just what you want to do.

Sorry I do not know just how to achieve what you want on iPhone.
Seems like "professional" software like Photoshop would work!

I am using Pixelmator to paste the extracted objects into another Image.
You would first extract an object in Photos, then copy it to the clipboard.
Then open Pixelmator and open the image where you want to insert the shape, then paste the saved object and resize it and position it.
A silly test in Pixelmator:
To save the modified photo back to Photos use the Share > Save to Photos command in Pixelmator.
