if I edit a document on pages on ipad 1, how do I make sure it carries to ipad 2?l
also, it seems I have to updates my apps on each ipad (plus my iphone). any way updating one set of apps will automatically updates the apps on other ipad/phone?

Using iCloud Drive on both devices and being signed into the same Apple ID on both devices will help your documents and any changes made to those to sync across your devices.

App will not automatically update because they are updated on another device however you can set your apps to update Automatically on each individual device.
1. Go to Settings.
2. Tap App Store.
3. Turn on or turn off App Updates.
