How do I prevent my camera from showing a ghost image of a light source when shooting at night time? Do I need to start a repair or is this a common occurrence with iPhone. Any knowledge or feedback would be greatly welcomed.

I'm not sure that TheLittles has grasped Benji_117's problem. I believe the question is not about screen burn-in but rather about optics. Whilst pointing the camera of my 14PM at the Moon recently, there was a distinct 'second Moon’ offset a little horizontally and vertically from the true one. I assumed that it might be caused by the protective covers that I have on my lenses, although previous shots of the Moon did not show this phenomenon. This may need further research and experimentation when the weather at night improves.

In this picture there is a ghost of the ATV above it. This madness went on all night in this parade every video and most pictures had a mirror image in the frame. The lenses are clean no scratches. I pulled clear lens protectors off because I thought it was the reflection off the dual lens. I see in wightrabbits pictures it seems have a cleaner light source than mine.

Thanks for that, but I don't think you have grasped the problem either. Using Night Mode just kills any atmospheric effect: see the two attached test pictures.

I had to compensate heavily in 'Edit’ to make the picture resemble reality, the original being far too bright. Incidentally, the bright blob is a street lamp, but the 'star’ seen between the two overhead cables is Jupiter.

If you try to photograph the Moon using Night Mode, you might as well take a photo of a dinner plate for all the detail you will get.

I still think that the original post refers to an unwanted optical effect.

Thank you Katana-San, I was not used to this effect with my previous phones. My last was pixel 6 pro before I made the move to iPhone. Using pixel I could take images at night with no lensing interference. I believe the 14 pro max to be a superior phone by far. Here you can see 2 reflections from this hot air balloon. Are you saying this is normal for nighttime pictures with iPhone?

Thank you Katana-San, I did not mean to criticise you for trying to help, I just wanted to get an answer to the actual problem. You may well have hit on the correct explanation with your second post, but I still wonder why the phenomenon was not apparent on an earlier night when I pointed the camera at the Moon. Please do not take offence: I can assure you that none was intended.
