Emojis don't appear in control strip in iMessages.

I don't believe you will ever see them on the "Control Strip" portion of the Touchbar.

The example above was from the Mail.app specifically— the Control strip remained unchanged...

Make changes to your TouchBar Settings, experiment, make changes, to get back to what you want to see for application specific Touchbar...

Well it is not a perfect science.

I do not use Messages on Mac however to test or say more.

Experiment with other apps and compare your results.. ex Mail I see options for emojis..

Make changes and compare your results...

What do you actually see in the Touch Bar when you are in Messages?

did you touch the emoji icon on the left to expand those options...?

I am seeing some inconsistencies here. Once you get this far, swipe between full screen applications and compare your results, sometimes it presents the condensed emoji on the far left, sometimes it presents an X.

ex. Notes. Sometime it presents, sometimes it does not.

To be honest I never use the Touchbar to add emojis anywhere, to say more. Full Stop.

However I do use the keyboard shortcut all the time to add emojis: Control Command Spacebar

I haven't installed webroot, not on purpose anyway. I searched activity monitor for any part of the Webroot app, nothing.

If you want to see a change— you are going to have to make changes...in an effort to see if it is setting malfunction or user error...

Sorry, I have no idea why specifically in Messages it is not working as expected. For me, it behaves the same way in, say, Mail, and Messages, as I showed you above.
