I receive a NY Times newsletter every morning. Sometimes only the first three-quarters (or so) of the message appears on my iMac. When I check on my iPad, the entire message is there. Any suggestions?

Hi KMQ47,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities.

We understand that only a portion of the NY Time Newsletter shows. Just to be clear, you're referring to the email not showing in its entirety, correct? If so, quit Mail app from the menu bar, Mail > Quit Mail and open again. If you haven't done so already, restart your computer to restart running processes.

Try opening the email in safe mode if this continues to occur. Safe mode limits what start up items are allowed to run while also running a health check on your disk.

"Start up your Mac with Apple silicon in safe mode

  1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > Shut Down.
  2. Wait for your Mac to shut down completely. A Mac is completely shut down when the screen is black and any lights (including in the Touch Bar) are off.
  3. Press and hold the power button on your Mac until “Loading startup options” appears.
  4. Select a volume.
  5. Press and hold the Shift key, then click Continue in Safe Mode.
  6. The computer restarts automatically. When the login window appears, you should see “Safe Boot” in the menu bar."

You can find this and steps for an Intel-based Mac in Start up your Mac in safe mode.

Regards.

I'm also experiencing the problem, and can add more detail. First, I have a subscription to both the NY Time Newsletter and their Morning Addition under an @yahoo address - both are NOT formatted correctly. I also have a Morning subscription under an @gmail address - that one IS formatted correctly. Both the yahoo and gmail accounts are setup as IMAP on all my devices.

By "formatted correctly" I mean that at first, portions of the body of the email appeared, but most of the content was missing. About a week ago the behavior changed on now only the header info (to:, from:, etc) show - there is no content displayed.

At first, the badly formatted emails displayed a link to "open in browser" (works perfectly). About a week ago that option also disappeared.

Before you place the blame on Yahoo - note that Apple Mail on iPad and iPhone works as expected.

Thanks for your attention!

Thanks for the responses -- I did try opening in safe mode, etc., but none of that worked. I solved the immediate problem by changing my NY Times email address to my iCloud address, so I no longer have the problem of a badly formatted NY Times email. However, the problem is still there and some other long emails that I routinely receive at my yahoo address are cut short and/or badly formatted. I'm pretty certain this is a Yahoo problem and not an Apple problem.
