automatic time zone is wrong after flying to a new time zone

after a flight, my phone should be 7:50am but it still reads 5:50am. This is after also charging my phone overnight and restarting it. I also am unable to toggle off automatic setting. I’m on Verizon wireless if that makes a difference (my partner has an iPhone 12 mini, also Verizon, and he’s able to set timezone manually … so doesn’t have this issue. How do I fix please?

Hello!

that wasn’t it either but I did some more googling and figured it out. Wanted to share back in case this happens to anyone else.

my location services were already on, but there was a sub menu under that under systems services and “setting time zone” was off for some reason. Toggled the switch and my time zone updated.

thanks for your help

If you are in another country, are you still on a Verizon network? Probably not. What cellular network are you on there? Your phone picks up date and time info from the cellular network.

Make sure that you have Cellular Data and Roaming On.

Settings > Cellular Data > On and Cellular Data Options > Data Roaming On

Careful with Data Roaming.....it is expensive unless you have a Verizon international plan.....turn it on only when you need it.

Hello! Thanks for your quick reply. Yes, location services was already turned to on. Other things I tried: turned airplane mode on/off; turned cellular off/on; turned location services off/on.

any other ideas up your sleeve?

im in another country if that somehow affects anything (again, though, my partner’s iphone has the correct time zone…)

thanks!!
