New Apple Watch has a red icon and won't charge.

Did you purchase a used Apple Watch? If you did and it won't charge on the apple charging cord with an appropriate charging plug, return the watch as it sounds as if you purchased a defective watch.

If you have the red icon on screen you will first need to try and charge it for a longer time, preferably up to half an hour till an hour If the red icon is persisting and you bought it new, go back to the store you got it from

Who did you purchase the watch from?

OK......What happens when you put it on the charging puck with the puck plugged into a 20W USB C plug?

Then it should be returned to the Apple Store. If its defective, they'll replace it. Both the band and watch need to be returned in the original packaging.
