Passcode Lockout

Hi everyone,

Recently upgraded my iPhone 8 with IOS 16.1 (I think) as notified. Entered my 6 digit passcode to enable set up & was denied access. I’ve attempted to gain access to my phone numerous times since & keep getting told try again in 3hrs, then 8hrs, etc etc!

Please note I am a real novice at such but I so need some help…
