Problem with MacBook Air 2018 upgrade to Ventura

Hi all,

I have a MacBook Air 2018 (Intel) that runs Big Sur. And then I upgraded to Ventura (skipped Catalina, due to error cannot download updates). The upgrade was successful.

But, the Touch ID and speaker is not working properly.

I cannot use and register any new Touch IDs.

For the speaker, after boot up I opened Safari and YouTube, the sound was OK. But after I close the Safari and re-open YouTube, sound is not working.

I have downgraded from Ventura to Big Sur (erased the old "Macintosh HD disk") but the problem still occurs.

Please help, thank you.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.7

Try and boot the Mac in the safe mode to see if the problem persists

  1. Turn on or restart your Mac, then immediately press and hold the Shift key until you see the login window.
  2. Log in to your Mac.
  3. You might be asked to log in again.
  4. On either the first or second login window, you should see “Safe Boot” in the menu bar.

If the problem is not persisting, an external piece of software is causing it. Please check which external software you have installed in the past time.
