Moving pictures and memes to Albums and deleting from Library

Hello,

as LandSurfingPro asked in his (closed) thread Moving pictures and memes to Albums and d… - Apple Community I came to this board my honorable ladies and gentlemen to ask the same question.

We love to work with the photos app and have the real photos of our journeys in it (family and friends) with face recognition and it creates wonderful memories with it and so on...

But in the other live we saved hundreds of memes, gifs, random funny videos in the app too.

We want to separate these two worlds. Hence Landsurfingpro like me suggested a different folder or album in photos app to put the memes there and delete them in the main folder from photos.

My only workaround so far for that is moving those memes and gifs into my iCloud folders and delete them in photos. :( But it's a lot of manual work.

So is there a solution in photos directly?

There is enormous flexibility in Photos and it's down to you to figure out how to use it to your taste. But what doesn't change is that everything is in the Library. Everything. If you don't want things in the Library then don't import them to Photos.

That said, there are many ways you can access the images and not use the full library view. Most basic: Create two albums. Put all your images In one, all your memes and other junk in the other. To see all your photos, just click on that album, and vice versa. You can do this in a wide variety of ways, using keywords, for instance, and smart albums. But basically, that's down to you. And remember that an image can be in any number of albums without using any extra disk space, so it is a low overhead way of achieving what you want.
