Do not share an Apple ID. An Apple ID is how you are identified as an individual. If two devices have the same Apple ID, the system thinks they belong to the same person and wants to make everything identical on both devices. It is designed to work that way.

There is no way to share an AppleID and nit share content. The AppleID is the login ID for each Apple service (iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, etc). The online systems have no clue who you are. All they know is the AppleID logging in. Anyone using that same AppleID is thus accessing the exact same service account with all of its inherent content.

It is no different than if you shared your bank online ID, or any other online ID. The login ID is all the system has to work with so anyone using that login ID is treated identically and has equal and full access to the online account and it’s data.

There is a way to share an ID and not share some content, but it flies in the face of some of the most handy aspects of using an Apple ID, namely iCloud. For that matter, also a bunch of parental control features. You could have an ID set up on two devices but also disable iCloud. Then each device would for many thing be independent. You could also set up email accounts separately on each device. However, things like the password would be the same, so if you daughter changed it and you didn't know that then you'd be in a mess. All in all it's a bad idea to try to share IDs.
