iPhone 14 Pro Camera Issues

I have owned an iPhone 14 Pro for a couple months and have loved it. But it seems like there’s an issue with the camera. The lens flare from lights on our Christmas tree ruins photos that I take on my phone. But when I take a photo with my sisters iPhone 12 mini there is no flare. Can someone explain why a two year old base model phone is taking photos that appear WAY better than the newly released high end iPhone 14 Pro? Or give me a solution to this aggravating problem? Thanks!

That’s the result of lens flare, which will happen with any camera (not just an iPhone) when there is a light source in the image or just outside the image and falling on the lens. It is caused by reflections between the elements of the lens.

Here is an article from Photography magazine about it→What is Lens Flare and How to Deal with it in Photography

And some examples from other cameras→iPhone Camera Lens Flare and Reflections - Apple Community

It might be worse on the iPhone 14 because it has a better lens with more elements.
