My granddaughter has an iPhone 7, I have a 13. Is there a way to set up using my phone with her Apple ID then transfer to her phone? I appears an upgrade will be necessary for her to use her watch.

My granddaughter has an iPhone 7. Instructions indicate she will need an 8 or higher. Is there a way I can set it up on my 13 then transfer to her 7+?

If the Watch is running on watchOS 9, it requires an iPhone running iOS 16 to pair. There is no way around that requirement.

An iPhone 7 cannot be updated to iOS 16.

M1 Mac mini, macOS 13.1; Watch, series 7 GPS/cellular, watchOS 9.2; iPad Pro 2nd Gen, iPadOS 16.2; iPhone 12 Pro, iOS 16.2; TV 4th Gen, tvOS 16.2; HomePods, audioOS 16.2 and Airport Express w/ Airplay 2
