Sending a screenshot as an iMessage in Ventura

Since I updated to Ventura, I cannot send a screenshot as a text message. After I take the screenshot, I open it (for the image on the bottom right) and click on the share arrow. It comes up with all of the options to mail, message, etc. But, if I choose iMessage, it will disappear. Mail still works and if I choose a recent recipient in iMessage (choices along the top) it works. Any ideas?

Hey vtfarm645,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities! Complete the following steps, testing after each one to see if it helps to share the pictures to the Messages app:

  1. Quit open applications and restart your Mac for fresh connections: Quit apps on Mac - Apple Support and Shut down or restart your Mac - Apple Support
  2. Start to safe mode, test the issue, then restart normally to exit safe mode, then test one more time. The tasks completed while starting to safe mode could help to resolve the issue. Here's more details about safe mode and how to start there: How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support
  3. If the behavior continues, create a new user account to help isolate if this is system-wide or only within your account: Change Users & Groups settings on Mac - Apple Support

Let us know how it goes.

Take care!
