I have been deleating ( cleaning ) my Mail and deleted thousands of messages. At the bottom left column, there is this "downloading messages" counter which I do not understand ?
Why is it downloading over 45k messages ? where from ?

IMAP account re-sync with the server....

Does that mean there is not actual volume data/bytes being downloaded, but merely the counter getting up to speed ?
what does downloading mail messages mean ?
