iCloud contacts messed up and not matching on my devices

Hello,

for several weeks my contacts are messed up now. I am using an iPhone, a Mac and icloud.com. All updated to the latest version.

In icloud.com there are currently 308 contacts, on my phone 302 and on my Mac 313. Turning off and on iCloud-sync on my Mac and on my iPhone didn't help.

Additionally labels in certain contact sheets (not all) are renamed regularly to basic labels, e.g. all numbers are named "phone", mail-addresses "e-mail" and so on... (see picture).

Any ideas? Is there a way to "reset" contacts e.g. by overwriting icloud.com with all contacts on my Mac?

If your iCloud contacts won't sync properly, you'll want to follow these instructions: If your iCloud Contacts, Calendars, or Reminders won’t sync

If it's still not working after that, you'll want to contact Apple for assistance with your iCloud account: Official Apple Support

I had a call with OAS. It was successful with regard to the general syncing problem. There is now the same number of cards on each device.

What's still going on is the problem with the labels being constantly renamed. I filed a bug report:

"Labels in certain contact sheets (not all) are renamed regularly to basic labels, e.g. all numbers are named "phone", mail-addresses "e-mail" and so on... There is no rule which contacts are affected and yet I haven‘t found out when. I already tried de-activating contact-sync on my devices and even logged out of icloud on my phone and on my mac, restarted and so on. I do not sync with other services than icloud, e.g. Google calendar."

IMHO it is not surprising. There are different labels in icloud.com, MacOS and iOS by default. So problems are kind of expectable. E.g. iOs suggests adding a WhatsApp-contact. On icloud.com it is later labelled twitter. Or am I wrong?

We’re glad your Contacts are syncing now as expected, judge2001. We also see you’re having a problem with when you switch one of the label fields on a Contact card, correct?

If that’s the case, we’d recommend Contacting Apple Support (CAS) again: Get Support. They have the tools needed to isolate and resolve this type of issue.

not exactly. The labels "rename themselves". Even when I choose one of the default options (e.g. iPhone or Mobil) it changes to "Telefon" after some time. But this doesn't happen with all contacts at the same time. Kind of step by step.

After fixing general syncing as mentioned above I turned iCloud-sync for contacts off on my iPhone and on my Mac and fixed all contacts in iCloud. After that I turned iCloud-sync back on on both devices. For a few days everything was fine but now renaming is going on again.
