Find My maps are not shown on Windows laptop

I have new work iphone 12 and Dell laptop from two weeks ago. I setup Find My on the new iphone. I left my iphone in the office and then tried to use my new laptop to locate my phone using icloud.com/find. The location service finds my phone, but doesn't show a map ... the screen display shows a message indicating maps are not available. I have since tried using find my phone with iphone right next to me and the same thing happens, although since my phone is next to me, I confirmed sending a sound from my laptop was received on the iphone. I then installed iTunes thinking that might resolve the map access ... but that didn't change the result.

  • I have high speed internet connection
  • I have local admin privileges on my laptop

I have Find My setup on my personal iphone and my personal pc at home that has always been able to find my iphone and show a map. I have used this service several times this year.

What would prevent me seeing the appropriate map when from using my work computer to locate my work iPhone that is actually found but not mapped with Find My on iCloud?

Hello michaelvlong,

Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. By any chance is your laptop and iPhone connected to a VPN network or possibly have a third party security software that's running in the background? If so, you'll want to consider turning those two features off, as it can prevent displaying a map for Find My.

We look forward to hearing back from you with an update.

Kind regards.
