Restoring my Mac from a time machine backup stops after 60% done

I try to restore my Mac from a time machine backup. The process stops after about 60% done and I get the mesage "The files couldn't be restored". Tried it several times. Not working. Any suggestions? Anybody has had the same issues? Thanks for helping. Cheers

Try using Disk Utility in Restore mode to run Disk First Aid on both drives.
