I’ve trying to connect with my daughter and every time I send the request following the instructions from this article, the link just brings me right back to this article. That’s it. We’re both on new ios. I’ve tried send from both phones via text and email. I get a picture and a link to this support article but no way to connect.

To start, could you confirm for us if these are the steps that you're following to send the initial Game Center friend request? Per Use Game Center to play with friends - Apple Support:
to invite one of your contacts. Once that person accepts the request through the Messages app, you'll be able to see them on your list of friends."Then the other party should receive the friend request that they can accept through Messages.
