Apple support's article:
Add money to your Apple Account balance - Apple Support
says:
"Use a payment method, such as a credit or debit card,
to add funds to your Apple Account balance".
You may see the $5 deduction on your credit / debit card statement.
Else check which payment methods are listed in your Apple ID account.
