Can I use any Bluetooth headphones with my apple ipad? Does it have to be Beats?

Yes, most Bluetooth headsets will work with iPads. IPads support the standard BT headset profiles. You do not need to buy Apple branded headphones.

No. Not all Bluetooth items will connect. It all has to do with compatibility. Beats, however, are intended to work.

Contact the manufacturer, and request assistance with finding a solution. Ask them for some tip on troubleshooting this, and ask if you can get a swapout. Have the serial number handy. They make the product. So, they'd know an upfront answer. If applicable, tell them it was a gift, and that you have no receipt.
