Select third party apps on the Apple TV box can be ‘connected to’ the Apple TV app, for accessing live TV content. That can be e.g. live sports (ESPN, DAZN, etc), or network TV channels from a TV provider (ABC, NBC, etc). You’ll need to subscribe for these (not included in an Apple TV+ subscription).

Apple itself streams ‘Friday Night Baseball’ games live during the baseball season.

Apple itself will stream MLS games to Season Pass subscribers, launching Feb 1.

Apple itself streams Apple Events live when they happen.
