Find My not tracking friend who gave permission

Once I get permission to track a friend on her trip, if my Notifications are turned on, is there anything else I need to do?

I did get permission, we both have iPhones and an iPad, but when I click on her name, it says "Location not found."

help please.

Thanks for getting back to me. As it turns out, the friend in question had not turned on her gps, so there was no way to track her.

I appreciate your help.

We recommend checking out these steps on how locate your friends using Find My on iPhone and see if it matches up with your procedures.


" Locate a friend in Find My on iPhone

When a friend shares their location with you, you can use the Find My app  to locate them on a map.

Note: If you want to see how far away your friends are from you, make sure you turn on Precise Location for the Find My app. See Control the location information you share on iPhone.

The Find My screen open to the People list. There are four people in the list: Ashley Rico, Olivia Rico, Dawn Ramirez, and Will Rico. Their locations are shown on a map of San Francisco.

See the location of a friend

Tap People at the bottom of the screen, then tap the name of the person you want to locate.

  • If your friend can be located: They appear on a map so you can see where they are.
  • If your friend can’t be located: You see “No location found” below their name.
  • If you aren’t following your friend: You see “Can see your location” below their name. You can ask to see a friend’s location.

You can also use Siri to locate a friend who has shared their location with you.

Siri: Say something like: “Where’s Gordon?” Learn how to use Siri. "
