FYI, only if it is an Intel Mac. For an M1/M2 Apple Silicon Mac, Safe Mode must be accessed from the startup boot options menu accessed by holding the power button until the menu appears. See this Apple article for the various methods of accessing Safe Mode for both Intel & Apple Silicon Macs:
