Mac OS Ventura: very slow internet

Since installing Ventura, connecting tom the Internet takes over 5-10 minutes. I then get a connection....but this repeats throughout the day. What is the fix please?

Try and boot in to the safe mode to see if the problem persitst. If it is not persisting in the safe mode, it is an external software issue

I don't know if you're having an intel Mac or an Apple Silicon one so here are the instructions for both chips:

Start up your Mac with Apple silicon in safe mode

On your Mac, choose Apple menu > Shut Down.
Wait for your Mac to shut down completely. A Mac is completely shut down when the screen is black and any lights (including in the Touch Bar) are off.
Press and hold the power button on your Mac until “Loading startup options” appears.
Select a volume.
Press and hold the Shift key, then click Continue in Safe Mode.
The computer restarts automatically. When the login window appears, you should see “Safe Boot” in the menu bar.

Start up your Intel-based Mac in safe mode

Turn on or restart your Mac, then immediately press and hold the Shift key until you see the login window.
Log in to your Mac.
You might be asked to log in again.
On either the first or second login window, you should see “Safe Boot” in the menu bar.

It can clone a boot drive whereas ** can't. It can also backup selected folders or packages, i.e. Photos Libraries, on a selected schedule or whenever you want it. When doing so it only copies new or modified files. ** can't do anywhere near4 the things CCC can. And CCC can't run repair on a drive like ** can.

Bottom line: they are two different apps with different capabilities.

I don't know the difference between a boot drive and a hard drive.

I want to exactly duplicate my current iMac onto the new SSD, so I see no difference in my iMac experience, programs, files, preferences, etc.

Can restoring my current hard drive onto the SSD using Disk Utility accomplish this?

The boot drive is where the system and user data are located. Hard drive is a generic term for any drive, SSD or rotational, no matter whether it's internal or external.

When you turn on the Mac it boots into the system/user data drive know as the boot drive.

It's interesting you say that because I saw a video that said using Disk Utility alone you can first erase it and then format it to a Mac OS extended, then restart the computer and restore the existing hard drive onto the SSD. Then you can use that SSD as your startup disk which appears to me that you can make it your new boot drive. Please correct me if I misunderstanding this and thank you again for your time.

That's true but ** doesn't do the install of the system nor the migration of the user data. It only erases and formats the drive. You can do it that way but using CCC is 2-3 times faster from start to finish.

As rkaufmann87 suggested use the demo version of CCC.

That's a pretty crucial oversight that those videos did not say that Disk Utility cannot install the system. So you're saying that CCC can do an entire clone, including the system. I'll download CCC and hopefully be able to grasp the steps to safely and completely clone my Mac onto the SSD. Thank you both.

First erase the drive to clone to and format it APFS. Then when you use CCC set it to use its Legacy Bootable Backup Assistant. Below I'm cloning my internal boot drive, Toad Hall, to the TH external SSD.

Thanks, but this issue commenced only after upgrading to Ventura. I think we need to explore Ventura for the issue.

The people at OWC would know which of their external SSD offerings would be best suited for your particular Mac and workflow. You can then match that to your budget.

Seems that cloning is more efficient than first installing a Mac OS on the SSD, then copying files to the SSD. But which is recommended?
