Migration Assistant taking hours?

I’m transferring from the 2009 MacBook to the new 2022 MacBook using migration assistant over Wi-Fi.speed only 1-2 MB/s. I feel like it’s stuck it’s been about four hours and the time keeps going up. Is there anyway to back out of this or to see if it’s worth continuing? It also says it’s transferred over 300,000 document files but I don’t have that many documents on my old computer so I can’t understand this.

Also I thought I was going to setup using iCloud. Would that work to image my new MacBook instead?

MacBook, OS X 10.10

A cable connection is always s preferred compared to WiFi for moving large amounts of data.
